Hoonah and Juneau resident George Johnson Sr., died Oct. 9, 2004, at Bartlett Regional Hospital in Juneau.
He attended the Hoonah School. He was a resident of the Juneau Pioneers' Home since August 2002. He was a fisherman and worked for the City and Borough of Hoonah. His family said he enjoyed fishing and spending time with friends and family.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Maggie and Willie Johnson; his wife, Selina Johnson; daughter, Eloise Daniels; and sister, Minnie Howard.
He is survived by his sister, Katherine Grant; brother, Sandy (Sylvia) Johnson; children, George (Teresa Bell) Johnson, Jr., Donna (Ken) Willard, Merle (Kathy John) Johnson and Sharon Thomas; and grandchildren, Georgena (Gena) Johnson, Clinton Daniels, Elton Willard and Scott Thomas. He had numerous nieces and nephews as well.
A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. today at the Juneau Pioneers' Home. Funeral services will be announced at a later date, but will be in Hoonah.
