While the Coast Guard will use the power, local students will collect data from the turbine in a program called Wind Energy for Schools, sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy. The project to raise awareness in rural America about the benefits of wind energy and developing a wind energy knowledge base in future leaders of our communities, states and nation.
