McAdams hosting town halls, tired of 'drama'

JUNEAU - Democrat Scott McAdams is hosting a series of town hall meetings, saying the "drama" of the Alaska Senate race has overshadowed the issues.

McAdams is vying for attention in what has become a rematch of the GOP primary between Joe Miller and U.S. Sen. Lisa Murkowski. Miller defeated Murkowski but she's since mounted a write-in campaign, saying she was urged to do so by Alaskans wanting a choice between his "extremist" views and McAdams' "inexperience."

McAdams says his experience on the local school board and as mayor of Sitka give him perspective on constituent needs and budgeting. He says he's "tired of all the drama" and wants to speak directly to Alaskans.

Town halls are set for Tuesday in Anchorage; Wednesday in Fairbanks and Thursday in Palmer.
