JUNEAU - A national tea party group supporting Joe Miller in the Alaska Senate race has decided to hold off on running ads in the contest until nearer the election.
Tea Party Express spokesman Levi Russell notes the group also made a big ad push in the waning days of the GOP primary, which Miller won over Sen. Lisa Murkowski.
The group last week unveiled ads it said it hoped to begin airing within days. The ads, shown to reporters and posted online, included one called, "Arrogant Lisa Murkowski - You Lost!" It seeks to cast Murkowski, who is running as a write-in candidate, as more interested in keeping her job than in serving Alaskans' interests.
Murkowski's campaign branded the ad "littered with lies" and distortions, and her attorney warned broadcasters against airing them.
