Coeur Alaska participated in a job fair in Juneau back in September. I sincerely hope that Coeur was able to fill some jobs and that Juneau residents were able to find employment with this new and important job sector in our community. I believe that the majority of people in Juneau want this project and I believe our economy needs it.
Coeur Alaska has worked very hard to improve the project environmentally. They have been issued all the permits needed to improve Lower Slate Lake as part of their mining proposal. I believe the scientists and engineers are correct, and that this is the best environmental alternative. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Forest Service, Environmental Protection Agency and the state of Alaska seem to feel the same way. Let's move forward to improve Juneau's economy and overall quality of life.
