JUNEAU - The Juneau Federal Executive Association is sponsoring a Family Disaster Preparedness Seminar from 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Centennial Hall.
Presentations about the City of Juneau's Disaster Plan, NOAA Weather Radio, and the Red Cross' "Preparing Family Disaster Kits" are scheduled for 10 a.m., noon, 2 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. There will be displays and a slide show on past Alaska disasters.
Representatives from Gastineau Humane Society, American Red Cross, Alaska Public Health, Local Emergency Planning Commission, Southeast Alaska Building Association, Alaska USA Credit Union, NOAA National Weather Service, and other agencies will be available throughout the day to share materials and information about preparing pets for emergencies, disaster planning for the elderly and special needs children, first aid, disaster planning for homes or small businesses and personal records management, among other topics.
The event is free and open to the public.
