Helen Sarabia, 84

Immediate family: Husband: Edward; Children: Gloria, Barbara, Edward, Lisa, Patricia, Norman, Teresa, Virginia

Hobbies: Volunteer work, working to restore Tlingit language

Occupation: Retired from work in Excursion Inlet Cannery and Older Alaskans Commission

Years as a survivor: 41

“I had four cancer operations. My husband was with me the first two times. Then after we lost him, my children were there with me and God bless them. I’m just glad to be here with my family. When I started chemo, that was pretty bad. Without them I think I would have thrown in the towel.”
