Dog that attacked woman to be euthanized

FAIRBANKS - The owner of a German shepherd that bit a 70-year-old woman while she was walking through a parking lot Oct. 2 has asked that the dog be euthanized.

Bill Bailey, who raised the 5-year-old dog, Solo, since he was a puppy, said he asked that the dog be killed after its required 10-day quarantine ended Sunday.

"I don't believe that I should try to put his life before a human," Bailey said.

Bailey said he has not been able to apologize because animal control officers have not released the victim's name.
