FAIRBANKS - A Fairbanks man has been charged with third-degree attempted weapons misconduct in a 2008 incident in which warning shots were fired near cars.
Alaska State Troopers said 23-year-old Sean B. Walklin was a passenger in a car driven by his girlfriend in September 2008 and she had trouble passing a group of cars on Chena Pump Road.
Troopers said that after she managed to pass, Walklin fired three or four shots out the window with a .40-caliber handgun so that other drivers would not try to catch up to them.
A witness gave troopers their license number.
Walklin acknowledged drinking before the incident.
