Protective order against Palin stalker issued

Posted: Thursday, October 14, 2010

ANCHORAGE - An Anchorage judge has issued a six-month protective order against a Pennsylvania man who stalked former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin.

Judge Suzanne Cole found 18-year-old Shawn Christy has stalked Palin, the 2008 GOP vice presidential candidate, a civil offense. He was ordered to not follow or otherwise stalk Palin and to have no communication with her or her family. This comes after a 20-day restraining order was issued last month.

Palin and her lawyer have previously said the McAdoo, Pa., man made implied threats on the phone, telling Palin he was buying a one-way ticket to Alaska and sending a receipt for a gun purchase.

Palin indicated in court papers filed Monday that she was fearful that Christy's conduct would result in her death or injury.
