FAIRBANKS - North Pole Mayor Doug Isaacson won re-election by two votes.

He held a nine-vote lead on election night over Councilman Jeff Jacobson. That narrowed to the final two-vote margin Tuesday, 157-155.

The Fairbanks Daily News-Miner reports Jacobson is looking into the possibility of a re-count.

Assuming the election stands, Jacobson leaves office next week after a decade-and-a-half as a councilman or mayor.

Four others also lost their bids for the mayor's job that pays $69,000 a year.
