Cheer Day Camp - TMHS football cheerleaders will be conducting a two-day cheer camp during the JSD teacher's in-service days on Thursday and Friday. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. Thursday, and the camp will run 7:45 a.m. - 5:15 p.m. on Thursday and Friday at the Thunder Mountain HS auxiliary gym. Grades 1-8 are welcome. It will cost $40 a day or $75 for both days. Kids must be dressed prepared to work out and must pack a lunch. Falcon cheerleaders will provide the instruction and snacks. The two-day course will include light tumbling, cheer instruction, games, arts and crafts, and a TMHS Cheer Camp T-shirt.
October Splash - The Glacier Swim Club will host the October Splash at Augustus Brown Swimming Pool Oct. 16-18 under sanction by USA Swimming and Alaska Swimming. This meet is open to all Southeast Alaska and Canadien swimmers currently registered as athlete members with USA swimming and Alaska Swimming or FINA. Swimmers will swim in the age bracket corresponding to their age on the first day of the meet.
Schedule: Friday - Warm-ups at 4 p.m., meet starts at 5:30.
Saturday - Warm-ups at 7:30 a.m., meet starts at 9.

Adult Men's Basketball Division I team - Looking for players to help complete a team, the Positive Vibration, for winter season, which runs Oct. 31-Feb. 13. Women's Classic Basketball League - Women who enjoy basketball and want to play for fun, on an organized team, but with women who are a "little older," or new to the game, or have less time due to kids, jobs or other commitments. Aggressive play is strongly discouraged in the Classic league. Pre-season practices will begin in November, followed by games which will be played through Feb. 3. Teams play once a week on Wednesday for a total of 10 games for the season. The cost is $47.25 per player, which covers the costs of the player fee and a share of the team fee, plus use of a numbered jersey for each player. Players will register with Juneau Parks and Recreation, and then staff and volunteers will put teams together. Registration forms and information are available at the Juneau Parks and Recreation office, which is located in room 218 of the Municipal Building. Classic registration forms are due by Oct. 23. Mt. Jumbo Gym Preschool Open Gym - Preschool open gym runs through April, from 10:30 a.m. to noon, Monday through Friday, in Douglas. Youths ages 1-6 must be accompanied and supervised by an adult at a maximum ratio of 4:1. Play equipment, tumbling mats, tricycles, scooters and more are available. Please bring clean, dry shoes and a snack. There is a $1 fee per child, though adults are free with a paid child. Punch cards are available for purchase at the gym.
