Tree biology, planting, pruning classes happening in Homer, Kenai

The Alaska Department of Natural Resources, Division of Forestry along with the Community Forestry Program have announced two classes that will focus on pruning and planting trees from 5:30-7:30 p.m. in Homer and Kenai on Monday, Oct. 18 and Tuesday, Oct. 19.

These classes will cover how trees function as complex systems and how to use this information when selecting, siting, planting, pruning and maintaining landscape trees. This workshop includes a classroom presentation and a demonstration in the field on pruning trees.

The classes are intended for nursery growers, landscape designers, arborists, contractors, garden retailers, public and private land managers and government agencies.

Classes are free, but advance registration is required. Register by calling or sending an email with your name, organization and contact information to stephen.nickel@alaska.gov.
