Posted: Friday, October 15, 2010

JUNEAU - Kids between the ages of nine and 12 are invited to join Discovery Southeast for the next Discovery Day on Monday, Oct. 18 at the Saga Eagle Valley Center.

With the center as a base, local students will have an opportunity to explore the forests and beaches around the Amalga Meadows trail. Participants will enjoy nature-inspired activities, experiments, games and art, and will have an opportunity to observe Juneau's backyard as it prepares for winter.

Discovery Days are day camps offered throughout the school year when students are out of school during teacher in-service, parent-teacher conferences, holidays and seasonal school breaks. Pick-ups and drop-offs are scheduled in locations both downtown and in the valley at Harborview Elementary and Riverbend Elementary schools. Participants are asked to bring weather-appropriate clothing, rubber boots, water, snacks and a lunch. For more information, to sign up and/or for exact pick-up and drop-off times visit or call 463-1500.
