During her tenure on the Juneau City Assembly, Cathy Muñoz was a tireless supporter of Bartlett Regional Hospital, and an active proponent of the hospital's role as a regional health care facility.
In 2000, she pushed for the Assembly to include on the fall ballot a temporary 1 percent sales tax issue that would allow Bartlett to undergo a major renovation and expansion that would modernize, and bring the hospital into the 21st century. During the fall election, she actively campaigned for that issue. As chair of the Assembly Finance Committee, she worked to find the additional funds from federal sources to include in the project a rooftop helipad so that our Southeast neighbors could have better emergency access to the facility.
As a member of the Assembly, she was always fair in the selection of appointees to the Hospital Board of Directors, choosing the best and most qualified candidates, regardless of the person's political persuasion.
She played an active role in the city's participation that has made the construction of the new SEARHC Hospital possible.
Cathy has always shown strong support for Bartlett Hospital, and for making Juneau a regional center for quality health care. These are just some of the reasons why I'm voting for Cathy Muñoz.
