Open House set at senior center

Senior citizens throughout Juneau are invited to a free open house from 1-4 p.m. on Thursday at the Valley Senior Center . The Valley Senior Center is located at 9059 Atlin Drive, next to St. Paul's Catholic Church on the corner of Mendenhall Loop Road and Atlin Drive, close to the Mendenhall Mall.

The Valley Senior Center is a lovely A-frame cottage built specifically for senior citizens to enjoy. It is a friendly place where people over 60 can come to participate in a variety of activities, hold meetings, and eat a hot, nutritious lunch while socializing with others. The meals are available Wednesday and Friday at noon.

Volunteers needed

Capital City Fire/Rescue, a department of the City and Borough of Juneau, is looking for qualified individuals who would be interested serving their community as volunteer firefighters.

If you would like to find out more about this challenging profession, call CCF/R headquarters at 586-5322.

Applications will be accepted through Nov. 8, 2002.

Women's chorus seeks members

Juneau Jubilee, a women's barbershop chorus, is looking for new members for the holiday season. No experience required. All women ages 18 and up are welcome. Practice is on Thursday evenings from 7:30 to 9 p.m. at 8618 Gail Ave. If you have questions please call Jane at 789-2821.
