Juneau resident Geraldine E. Bales, 78, died Oct. 11, 2003, at home.
She was born Dec. 9, 1924, in Walla Walla, Wash., to Raymond and Thelma Hill. She married Charles D. Bales on Sept. 20, 1947. She lived in various places around the world until they settled in Juneau in 1981. She retired from the State of Alaska, Department of Environmental Conservation, in 1992. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles, her parents, and her sister, Mervin LouJean Hill.
She is survived by her sons, Charles David Bales of Centralia, Wash., and John (Twyla) Douglas Bales of Centralia, Wash.; daughters, Jere (Lloyd) Dee Davis of Ankeny, Iowa, Linda (Mark) Johnson of Juneau, and Lee Hanna and Matthew Wilson of Juneau; brother, James (Rosemary) Hill of Bonners Ferry, Idaho; sisters, Rea (Denny) Ellen Clark of Sioux City, Iowa, and Vivian (Harold) Davidson of Des Moines, Iowa; 12 grandchildren and five great-grand-children.
A remembrance will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 16, at her home, 6590 Glacier Hwy. No. 206. Anyone who wishes to attend is welcome.
