JUNEAU - Juneau Assembly members shuffled seats and nameplates as they elected a new deputy mayor and welcomed Ruth Danner to its membership in a special meeting Thursday.
Danner was sworn in ceremonially; she was formally sworn in Wednesday for a committee meeting, said City Attorney John Hartle.
In a secret ballot, the Assembly also elected third-term Assembly member Randy Wanamaker as deputy mayor. Wanamaker and incumbent Deputy Mayor Jeff Bush were competing for the position.
Wanamaker previously served in the role from 2005 to 2006.
The Assembly also assigned members to standing committees and liaison seats and set the 2010 meeting calendar, available online at www.juneau.org/assembly/index.php.
