CBJ taxes are high

Regarding the front page story on how low "our" (state) taxes are, great, but as the man from Deering, N.H., stated, the state figure is misleading. Yes, state taxes are very reasonable.

What about the CBJ tax burden? By my very preliminary estimate, the city of Anchorage spends less than $1,000 per year per person. The last I knew, the city of Juneau was blowing over $5,000 per resident. Does anyone really have the absurdity to think that we have a standard of living five times greater than Anchorage? The city budget per person in Juneau has to be one of the highest in North America.

That is the main reason why we have decided to move after living here for 17 years. Am I the only one that is fed up with this town's voracious appetite for taxes and fees?
