In response to the article about the young man who is charged with sexual abuse (Empire, Oct. 14), I just want to say to the young woman: Things will get better and you should feel good that you stopped a bad thing from getting worse. Having been the recent victim of sexual harassment myself, I know too well how hard it can be to find the courage to stand up for yourself and say no.
I applaud your courage in coming forward and pushing through during what must be a really hard time for you. I think that if many more people were able to understand that each person is a human being, deserving of respect, that things like this would occur less often.
Until then, the best thing to do is come forward. There may be people who think you are wrong, but unless they have been in your shoes, they really have nothing worth saying, and don't let them dissuade you from your pursuit of justice. Good luck and the best of wishes.
