Pets at the humane society don't fight like cats, birds

Sound off on the important issues at

Although he is shy, Spirit, 3-year-old neutered male is both loving and lovable. Spirit has a loving purr and is very gentle and affectionate. On top of his calm demeanor he is a beautiful white cat with delicate apricot markings. Spirit would be most comfortable in a home without other cats or children.

If we had any more feathers at the Gastineau Humane Society we would take off. Currently up for adoption we have five fabulous parakeets and three tremendous cockatiels. Some of these birds are already paired and looking for someone to croon to while others belong in the singles section under the heading; "will sing for love."

"Boy, oh boy, this is a great cat!" you'll say when you meet the 4-year-old neutered male cat called Boy. He's a long haired cat with big bold white and black spots who is described by the staff as "really nice" and "a quiet lover." We try not to judge even the quirkiest cat people here at the Gastineau Humane Society.

Arthur is Awesome and he is going to let you know it. This 2-and-a-half-year-old neutered male is the most talkative cat in town. He will meow and purr and follow you all around trying to get your undivided attention. If we have any advice to you, it's: "Give it to him!" He is a handsome cat with short black and white fur, and he will make someone and excellent companion.

Come visit these adorable animals from 3 to 6 p.m. Monday-Friday or 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday at the Gastineau Humane Society.
