Juneau police, fire officials and state troopers reported:
Thefts:
* A man reported at 8:14 a.m. Wednesday near Jennifer Drive that a credit card was stolen from a residence where he was staying Tuesday night.
* Police responded to a call at 8:32 a.m. Wednesday near Glacier Highway from a woman who said outgoing mail was stolen from her mailbox between 6:30 and 8:30 p.m. Tuesday night.
* Police responded at 9:14 a.m. Wednesday near Renninger Street to a report of a flute stolen from a locker.
* A man, 20, was arrested at 3:46 p.m. Wednesday near Glacier Highway for shoplifting. He was taken to the police department and then released.
Vandalism and criminal mischief:
* Police responded to a report at 11:38 a.m. Wednesday near Glacier Avenue and Highland Drive to a woman who said the right front tire of her vehicle had been slashed between 6:30 and 8:30 p.m. Monday.
* Police found the word "rule" spray painted on a crosswalk at 2:04 a.m. today near Glacier Avenue and Highland Drive.
Vehicle accidents:
* Police cited a man, 84, for failure to yield on a left turn following a two-vehicle accident. The man, driving a new Chrysler 300 M, turned left in front of a 1989 Mercury Topaz driven by a woman, 42. The 300 M sustained $4,000 in damage and the Chrysler had $2,000 in damage.
Hit-and-run incidents:
* Police received a report at 2:50 p.m. Wednesday near Trout Street of a blue pickup hitting a building and leaving the scene.
Animal encounters:
* A bear was reported at 3:18 a.m. Wednesday near Seward Street.
