JUNEAU - A 22-year-old Juneau man and 16-year-old juvenile have been charged with burglary after police received a report of a burglary at a residence in the Lucky Me community on Douglas Island.

Police said Jesse Jackson and a juvenile allegedly broke into a cabin and took firearms and a substantial amount of cash. A homeowner located the suspects and contacted police to say they had been detained on the beach.

One of them was reportedly carrying a rifle, which the homeowner took away from him. Juneau police responded to the scene with the assistance of the U.S. Coast Guard.

Police said the pair admitted they had broken into two other residences in the area, however, there have been no other reports of burglaries. The property stolen from the first home was recovered.

Jackson was lodged at Lemon Creek Correctional Center on charges of burglary and theft. The juvenile was lodged at Johnson Youth Center on charges of burglary, theft and misconduct involving a controlled substance.
