Juneau police, fire officials and state troopers reported:


About 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, a man, 42, reported the theft of about 55 compact discs from outside his residence on Postal Way.

About 9:30 p.m. Wednesday, a woman, 58, reported the theft of tires valued at $300 from her porch in Sprucewood Trailer Park. The incident is under investigation.


About 9:15 a.m. Wednesday, a man, 38, was placed under citizen's arrest for criminal trespass on South Franklin Street. He was lodged at the Lemon Creek Correctional Center. Alcohol was involved in the incident.

Vandalism and criminal mischief:

About 9 a.m. Wednesday, police received a report of vandalism to a bench in front of the Douglas Community Methodist Church. Boards were broken. An estimate of the value of the bench was not available.

Vehicle accidents:

Capital City Fire & Rescue responded to a motor vehicle accident shortly after 4 p.m. Wednesday at Back Loop Road and the Mendenhall River. Two people with minor complaints were transported to Bartlett Regional Hospital to rule out serious injuries.

Police responded shortly after 6 p.m. Wednesday to a motor vehicle accident near the Douglas Bridge. A 1998 Chevrolet pickup operated by a man, 26, and a 1960 Ford pickup, operated by a man, 42, were involved. The Chevy suffered $1,200 damage. The Ford suffered about $500 damage. No one was injured. The drivers exchanged information.

Animal encounters:

Shortly after 11 p.m. Wednesday, police received a report of a bear near the downtown substation of the Juneau Police Department.
