Ginger Bean of Miller Construction of Juneau surveys the site of the joint University of Alaska Southeast Student Recreation Center and Alaska Army National Guard Readiness Center, near the Auke Lake campus on Saturday. The university and the guard have awarded a $9.4 million contract to Dawson Construction of Bellingham, Wash., to build the center, starting this fall.
