Churches sponsor Strathdee concert

Sound off on the important issues at

JUNEAU - Jim and Jean Strathdee, composers of worship songs such as "I Am the Light of the World" and "What Does the Lord Require of You," will offer a congregational concert at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 25, at Northern Light United Church.

The fundraiser is sponsored by Aldersgate United Methodist Church, Douglas Community United Methodist Church and Northern Light United Church. Proceeds will go to the Nothing But Needs program, which provides treated nets to prevent malaria in sub-Sahara Africa.

Malaria is a leading cause of death of children in Africa, killing nearly one million children each year. Every day, 3,000 children die from the disease.

Tickets are $10 for adults and $7.50 for youth and seniors. Some tickets will be available at the door. For more information, call Debra Gerrish at 789-3236.

Glacier visitor center to host Halloween party

JUNEAU - Join the glacier goblins for a free Halloween celebration from 1 to 3 p.m. on Oct. 27 at the Mendenhall Glacier Visitor Center.

Have a hauntingly good time learning about "creepy critters." Enjoy games, face painting, crafts and ghostly fun for kids of all ages. Adults shoule accompany their children. Costumes are encouraged.
