Missing man shows up on Sand Point street

SAND POINT - A man who walked off a job in Sand Point and was missing for three days has been found alive and well.

John Shannon, 35, was working on a dock Tuesday night and told his supervisor he was taking a break.

He did not return and was not seen until Friday morning, when he was spotted walking down a street.

Enviro-Tech Diving Inc. President Tim Jewell said Shannon is a diver but the work Tuesday did not involve entering the water. He had just been hired Monday.

Jewell said the disappearance triggered a community-wide search that involved people from cannery workers to school children.

Jewell said Shannon left with his parents Friday for Seattle.
