FAIRBANKS - Doug Isaacson has won a second term as mayor of North Pole after a re-count gave him a two-vote victory.
Ballots were run through a voting machine at the borough administrative building on Friday and gave Isaacson a slim win over former mayor Jeff Jacobson, The Fairbanks Daily News-Miner reported.
Isaacson had 157 votes. Jacobson had 155.
Nine votes separated the two on election night with Isaacson ahead. Jacboson narrowed the lead to two after absentee and questioned ballots were included.
Jacobson then asked for a re-count after confirmation that the voting machine in North Pole had malfunctioned on election night.
The results will be certified and Isaacson will be sworn in today.
