Former Juneau resident Craig Oliver Dahl, 92, passed away on Oct. 8th 2010 at St. Peters Providence Hospital in Olympia, Wash. He was born in Edison, Wash. on Feb. 6, 1918 to Tillman and Elizabeth Dahl. He married Joan B. Smith of Burlington, Wash., on June 20th, 1946.
Prior to moving to Lacey, Wash. 11 years ago, Craig and Joan lived in Kihei, Maui, Hawaii for the first 15 years of retirement after living and working in Juneau for 21 years. Dahl was part owner and president of Foodland Inc. at the time of his retirement. He was a member of the Royal Order of the Elks, an avid fisherman, hunter, and gardener and a devoted father and husband. Craig returned to Juneau every summer for his annual fishing trip, making his last trip at age 91.
He is survived by his wife Joan, son and daughter-in-law Craig and Leslie Dahl of Juneau, daughter and son-in-law Jane and Tom Bohon of Lacey, Wash.; grandchildren Kristin Dahl and husband Jake Gundersen of Portland, Ore., Keoki Dahl of Lacey, Wash., and Jason Cameron of Juneau; and great granddaughter Bibi Brown of Bellingham, Wash.
Dahl was preceded in death by his by his parents Tillman and Elizabeth Dahl, sister Maxine Trotto, and grandson Timothy Dahl.
