ANCHORAGE - A mountain and ice field in Alaska have been named in honor of the late Sen. Ted Stevens.
KTUU-TV reports that President Barack Obama signed the legislation into law Monday after the measure passed the House and Senate by unanimous consent last month.
The legislation requires the U.S. Geological Place Names Board to officially name the peak and ice field within 30 days of passage.
Stevens Peak, formerly known as South Hunter Peak, is located in Denali National Park and Preserve, just south of Mount McKinley.
The mountain is the tallest unnamed peak in Alaska.
