More Alaska guardsmen called up

ANCHORAGE -- Part of the Alaska Air National Guard's 168th Air Refueling Wing has been mobilized for Operation Enduring Freedom.

Guard officials say 130 members of the wing were being called to active duty. Guard spokesman Maj. Mike Haller said most, if not all, of the airmen and officers are likely to remain within the state during active duty.

The call-up of members will allow the guard to meet its increase in mission requirements, Haller said. Guard officials say their tasks within Alaska and the Pacific Rim have increased since the September terrorist attacks.
