Absentee voting starts today

JUNEAU - Absentee and early voting for the Nov. 5 state's general election started today.

In Juneau, people can vote absentee at the state Division of Elections office on the sixth floor of the Court Plaza Building downtown and at the Nugget Mall.

At the state Division of Elections office, the hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays through election day. The office will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 2, from noon to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 3 and from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on election day.

At the Nugget Mall, the hours are from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekdays through election day. People also can cast ballots from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 2, from noon to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 3 and from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on election day.

Absentee voting also will be available from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Nov. 5 at airports in Juneau, Anchorage, Fairbanks, Ketchikan, Kodiak and Sitka. For information about voting absentee by mail or fax, visit the Division of Elections Web site at www.elections.state.ak.us/.
