Student artist in the spotlight: Kyle Savikko
Age: 17
Grade: 12
School: Juneau-Douglas High
Art of choice: Kyle has been playing the baritone saxophone since the sixth grade.
Making more music: Rumor has it that he is proficient at more than one instrument.
Favorite artists: Douglas Adams of "Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" is Kyle's hero and author of choice.
Other activities: Numerous music ensembles, National Honor Society and soccer.
Brotherly pride: His youngest sister started to play the flute and seems a natural. Kyle's proud of her.
Future plans: He plans on being a professional musician. He wants to succeed and enjoy his life.
His teacher, Ken Guiher, says: "Kyle recently decided to give up his chair at Southeast Honor Band on baritone sax so 'someone else could have a chance at it.' Instead, he auditioned on a second instrument and was selected for that instrument. These kind of selfless acts are typical for Kyle."
