The first quarter of the Sunday Mixed Bowling League closed this week with the Lucky Strikes sweeping four games from first place We B Bad and the Kit Shickers taking three games from Just For Fun to close the gap between first and second place to four games.
Lucky Strikes swept four games from first place We B Bad behind Gus Gair (247/202/646), Mary Cogswell (191/181/541), Suzanne Dutson (170) and Pete Peterson (213) to move into a tie for second place with the Kit Shickers. We B Bad were led by Kim Custer's 23½13 and Jack Bodine's 221 games as they lost 4 games on the night, one more than all season.
The women ruled the night in a face off between the second and third place teams, as the two squads combined for the highest two-team series in the league.
Vanda Randolph set a new women's season high series mark with a 597 for Just For Fun, but came up on the losing end as Trina Jones (224/193/175/592) and Luann Powers (213/512) led the Kit Shickers to three wins. Those wins moved the Kit Schickers into a tie for second with Lucky Strikes.
The Kit Shickers' men still carried a little of the load this week, aided by Jeff Jones' 249/255/703 and Tim Powers' 232 bowling. Loren Randolph added a 235/216/214/665 and substitute Lee Ferguson entered the league with a 223/258/647 in Just For Fun's effort.
Thinking Thanksgiving already, David Rolfe bowled the first JUMBO turkey (four straight strikes) of his life en route to a season high 174 game while Dale Hicks added a 200/554 as the Lebowskis took three games from Bee Plus despite Pete Bednarowicz' 239/236/672 for the losers.
