I disagree with Ms. Peggy Ann McConnochie. In her letter to the editor, (Empire, Oct. 17), she disparages the outcome in our capital city municipal election. She decries the fact that now we have an exlusively male city Assembly, calling it a step backward. Also, she says that we women now have no voice in Juneau. But she is wrong.
There are literally thousands of women here. When we vote, we speak. Hopefully, we vote for whom we think to be the most qualified person for the job. I like to think that we are well beyond casting a gender-based vote. And what is so terrible about men? They strike me as perfectly decent human beings. After all, we marry them, don't we?
