JUNEAU - A ceremonial ribbon cutting hosted by Bartlett Regional Hospital staff and executives and local government representatives, marks the "opening of the front door to your community hospital," said Chief Operating Officer Debbi Lehner. Bartlett will host its official community open house celebration from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Nov. 10.
Bartlett Regional Hospital has undergone construction and renovation of the facilities since August 2004. The total cost of the project is estimated to be $65.7 million with the cost of this phase at completion running approximately $29 million.
The hospital now features private rooms for inpatient care departments, obstetrics and 24-hour emergency services in addition to a variety of outpatient services. Amenities include a new Patient Education Resource Center, a Prayer and Meditation Room and the newly renamed Blue Heron Gift Shop, which is run by the Bartlett Regional Hospital Foundation.
"This is an exciting day for all of our team members and our community," said Reed Reynolds, chairman-elect of the BRH Board of Directors. "Our facility incorporates the best in clinical practices and the latest innovations in both hospital design and technologies."
Monday's ribbon cutting ceremony marked the opening of the new front lobby entrance. The facility is still undergoing renovations but the opening of the new lobby entrance marks an important milestone in the process.
The front lobby entrance is open between 5:30 a.m. and 10 p.m., providing access to all services including Cardiac and Physical Rehabilitation and the Sleep Lab which are now located in the main hospital building.
Afterhour's access to the hospital is available via the Emergency Department entrance. The opening of the front entrance means Patient Access Service (admitting) will receive patients in the two locations.
PAS II (on the second floor, main lobby entrance) hours are Monday through Friday 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. It primarily admits and registers all patient types except Emergency Department and Diagnostic Imaging patients. All Surgical Services patients will be registered via the main lobby registration area.
PAS I (on the first floor, emergency room entrance) hours are 24 hours a day, seven days a week. It primarily registers Emergency Department and Diagnostic Imaging patients. Process all patient discharges and admissions after 6 p.m. and on weekends.
Bartlett staff recognizes that changes can create confusion and looks forward to serving and accommodating patients regardless of which PAS area they may present to first.
"We now have a facility that meets the highest standards for an environment conducive to healing," CEO Shawn Morrow said. "If you haven't been by the hospital in a while we hope that you will come by and take a look at your community hospital, and we hope to see you at the open house."
