Forest Service to sponsor Fall Fun Fest at the glacier center

JUNEAU - To celebrate autumn and Halloween, the U.S. Forest Service will host a Fall Fun Fest from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the Mendenhall Glacier Visitor Center.

There will be games, crafts and contests. Families can learn about nature while enjoying spooky fun with U.S. Forest Service rangers and volunteers. Costumes are welcome.

Kids can crawl through the blue ice caves in the Iceworm Wiggle, learn about wildlife anatomy by exploring different animal skeletal parts, make fish print art, create origami bats and pumpkins, play Bowling for Bones, investigate secret contents of mystery boxes and toss a toy fish into a cardboard bear s mouth.

From October to April, the visitor center is open Thursday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more information, call Laurie Craig, Jane Terry or Elayne Boyce at 789-0097.
