KENAI - A 72-year-old Kenai man is dead after a cigarette accidentally ignited a piece of furniture and caused a fire in his apartment complex.
On Tuesday, Alaska State Troopers identified the victim as Peter Castell. The state's medical examiner's office is investigating the cause of death.
Officials say the Monday morning fire did $30,000 worth of damage to the Cook Inlet Housing Authority building made up of 24 units.
Authorities say the fire was pretty much limited to Castell's apartment. There were no other injuries.
