Five plead guilty to distributing marijuana

ANCHORAGE - Five people have pleaded guilty to conspiring to distribute marijuana in Alaska.

Prosecutors say the defendants helped arrange for the shipment of about 100 pounds of marijuana from Canada to Alaska.

One of the defendants, 43-year-old Wallie Scott Vierra of Anchorage, also agreed to forfeit approximately $1 million in cash, vehicles, boats, real estate and other items bought with drug money. He also agreed to forfeit his interest in the night club Platinum Jaxx.

The other defendants are Steven Michael Roberts of Vancouver, Washington; Keith Harrington Edwards of Anchorage; Linda Rae Harrigan of Anchorage; and Judy Carol Staffa of Manteca, Calif.

Sentencing is set for between November and the end of January.
