JUNEAU - The SouthEast Alaska Regional Health Promotion Juneau Health Promotion and Behavioral Health Prevention programs are hosting a family swim event on Saturday at the Augustus G. Brown Swimming Pool.
The pool party is for Red Ribbon Week and is open to SEARHC Native patients, family, friends and SEARHC employees. There will be two sessions on Saturday; the first from 6:15 to 7:15 p.m. and the second from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. Up to 100 people can attend each session.
Besides the swimming pool activities, there also will be snacks (in the lobby) and Native drumming. Staff from SEARHC healthy living programs also will be there to answer any questions and connect you with resources for other healthy living activities in Juneau.
Red Ribbon Week, which runs Oct. 23-31, is a national promotion to prevent drug and alcohol abuse among young people by getting them involved in healthy activities.
