FAIRBANKS - An opposition group has been formed late in the campaign season in an effort to unseat Alaska state Rep. Mike Kelly.

The Fairbanks Daily News-Miner said a group called "Alaskans Opposed to the Re-election of Mike Kelly" is distributing literature and online advertising in a negative campaign against the Fairbanks Republican.

Kelly said the group is relying on a handful of votes and quotes taken out of context and called its use of negative campaign tactics unfortunate.
