'Dream fight' set for Juneau

Posted: Friday, October 22, 2010

Promoter Bob Haag, of Big H Promotions and Roughhouse Friday Boxing, is bringing a match between two of the best lightweights in the state of Alaska to Juneau.

Friday, Oct. 22 at Marlintini's Lounge, Ketchikan's Tyson "Kain" Duckworth takes on Anchorage's Johnny "The Cobra" Taunton. Both boxers are state champions in their weight classes.

Tyson lost a close decision to Anchorage lightweight Joe Degroff last year.

"I thought I won the fight. I didn't like the decisions of the judges," Duckworth said.

Johnny Taunton invited Duckworth to Anchorage to fight for the state championship.

"No way," Tyson said. "You come to Ketchikan and fight me.

"No way," Taunton replied. "After I knock you out, they will run me out of town."

Both boxers have agreed to fight in Juneau at Marlintini's, where they have fought in previous matches, though never against each other.

This dream match and four other matches, plus two MMA bouts, are live at 9 p.m. on Oct. 22 at Marlintini's.
