ANCHORAGE - The federal government is getting into the nightclub business in Anchorage.

A plea deal in the drug smuggling case of 43-year-old Wallie Scott Vierre, one of the owners of Platinum Jaxx, requires him to turn over his 25 percent stake in the business to federal authorities.

Vierre pleaded guilty last week to moving more than a ton of British Columbia marijuana to Alaska. He also admitted using the popular club to launder more than a half million dollars in drug money.
