JUNEAU - A hunter education and basic training course will be offered Friday and Saturday, Nov. 6 to 7 at the Juneau Hunter Education Facility.
This course is a requirement for all hunters looking to take game and fowl in several Game Management Units throughout Alaska as well as in the Mendenhall Wetlands State Game Refuge.
Course studies will cover instruction on firearms safety and handling, wildlife conservation and management, game laws and regulations, and hunter ethics and responsibility. Successful graduates will be awarded a lifetime hunter education certification recognized throughout North America.
Registration for the course requires the purchase of an independent study packet available in room 201 of the Douglas office of the Alaska Department of Fish and Game or at the Juneau Hunter Education Facility at 5607 Montana Creek Road. Study modules in the packet must be completed prior to the start of the course and brought to the class.
The course costs $10. Course times Friday are from 6 to 9 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. For more information call the ADF&G at 465-4265 or the JHEF at 586-4101.
