As an artist, a mother, an educator and an Alaskan, I want to express my admiration and gratitude for the strong, moving voice with which our lieutenant governor, Fran Ulmer, inspires us. Whether she is speaking with clarity and grace at a time of uncertainty, such as at the 9/11 memorial service, or singing the Alaskan Flag song to honor the life of a long-time Alaskan, Lt. Gov. Ulmer expresses her conviction, wisdom, and above all, her willingness to serve our diverse communities. We are truly blessed to have such a leader representing our state, and I support whole-heartedly the marvelous potential of her service as governor.
I encourage all those yet undecided about the gubernatorial race, and especially those who are considering boldly crossing party lines, to trust the certainty embodied in this strong voice. What an opportunity! To have a governor able to guide us in communicating with one another about important issues, as well as to articulate our message skillfully to Washington at a time when cool heads and experience-based knowledge are sorely needed.
For now, here at home, we benefit daily from the good fortune of this inspiring presence in our public life. Many thanks to the lieutenant governor for her continued strength.
