In season: King and dungeness crab, halibut, coho salmon (June-Nov.), deer (Aug.-Dec., depending on area), mountain goat (Aug.-Dec., depending on area), wolf (Aug.-April), grouse (Aug.-May), ptarmigan (Aug.-May), ducks, geese, brants, swans, snipe, crane (Sept.-Dec.), moose (in Yakutat through mid-Nov.), coyote (Sept.-April), hare (Sept.-April), brown bear (Sept.-Dec.) and crow (Sept.-mid-Nov.)

Nov. 1: JYC Sailing Squadron, formerly the Juneau Sailing Club, meets, 7:30, at Juneau Yacht Club.

Nov. 1: "Cold Fusion," a Warren Miller skiing film, 5:45 and 8 p.m., Centennial Hall. Tickets at Eaglecrest business office and the door. Presented by Eaglecrest Ski and Snowboard School.

Nov. 1-2: Drop off items for Ski Swap, 5-9 p.m., Centennial Hall..ov. 2-4: 5th Annual Sitka Whalefest with educational lectures from biologists and speakers, concert, trade fair, marine tours, and more. Call (907) 747-7964.

Nov. 8-11: Annual Alaska Bald Eagle Festival in Haines to celebrate the annual congregation of up to 4,000 eagles along the banks of the Chilkat River with educational seminars, special tours and family events. Call (907) 766-2202.

Nov. 9: Grand opening of The Rock Dump Indoor Climbing Gym, new rock-climbing wall, 1310 Eastaugh Way, at Thane Road rock dump.
