Remembering Dot

I recently learned of, and was saddened by, the death of Dorothea "Dot" Eide. This prompts me to remind Juneauites of what a positive effect she had on a generation of Juneau's children in her role as junior high school secretary in the 1960s. Since I was the school's first principal I worked closely with her. Her compassion, understanding, sense of humor and warm-heartedness displayed to students and staff was unsurpassed. She had a wonderful, positive effect on many people who still call Juneau home, as she did.
