Trail end restored

Posted: Friday, October 25, 2002

A Trail Mix work crew is completing installation of a bridge allowing access to the end of the 312-mile Perseverance Trail in Silverbow Basin above downtown. The bridge and a new stretch of trail completes several years of work restoring access to the head of the basin and its collection of historic mining ruins. Part of the trail was washed out in the mid-1990s. Passenger fee proceeds, plus some trail guide fees, funded the $80,000 project. Earlier work replaced a bridge and improved the 2 1/2-mile Granite Creek spur trail. An additional spur to the basin's old glory hole pit mine will be completed next year.
