Juneau resident Cathy Memorie Hildre, 54, died Oct. 20, 2006, peacefully in her home near Tee Harbor, following a two-year battle with breast cancer.

She was born on Dec. 21, 1951, in Juneau and was a lifelong resident.
She enjoyed cooking, bowling, travel and being with her grandchildren, Tristan and Jamie. Her long career in the bookkeeping and accounting field included employment with Schmitz and Kline CPAs, Taku Fisheries, Hearthside Books and the Juneau Convention and Visitors Bureau.
"Cathy's faith was a sustaining force in her life and especially gave her comfort and assurance during her illness," family members said. "She drew great strength from her many friends over the years and appreciated the companionship and love they gave throughout her life."
She is survived by her husband of 35 years, Peter Hildre; children, Tracie DeVere and her husband, Jeff, of Olympia, Wash., and Tim Hildre and Tiffany Hildre, of Juneau; grandchildren, Tristan James and Jamie Lynn, of Olympia; father, Duane Haffner and his wife, Jewel; brother, Rick Haffner and his wife, Misty, and their children, Fathom, Coral and Brenyer Haffner; mother-in-law, Dorothy Hildre; sister-in-law, Linda Carson and her husband, Norm; brother-in-law, Ken Hildre and partner, Patty; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. on Oct. 28 at Chapel by the Lake, with a potluck gathering to follow in Smith Hall.
