Juneau resident Carole Sara Baker, 68, died Oct. 21, 2006, in her home after a long battle with lung cancer.

She was born Sept. 7, 1938, to Ernest and Margaret Hagewood, of Springfield, Mo. In 1981, she and her family moved to Wasilla, where she lived until moving to Juneau in 1994 to be closer to her grandchildren.
Her family said, "She cherished being a homemaker, mother and grandmother. She worked at JoAnn's part-time and loved meeting and helping people."
She was preceded in death by her son, James Baker.
She is survived by her husband, John P. Baker; daughters, Carole Ann Baker, Necole Lee Baker and Mary K. Baker; sons, Joseph Baker and John Baker Jr.; two grandchildren, Brandi Campbell and Chelsea Childress.
At her request, she will be cremated and a service will be held in Anchorage at the National Cemetery in Fort Richardson.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice and Home Care of Juneau.
